Villa Deveena for fine french dining, hidden away in a secret oasis. Our personal favorite.
For casual dining, try these various restaurants: Cafe Playa Negra, Hotel Playa Negra, Kontiki for wood fired pizza, Rustico for lasagna, Soul Shine for mediterranean brunch and Cafe LaVentana's for your morning latte. A must-do is lunch at Lola's, which is just 5 minutes drive to the north in Avenallas.
Junquillal is a 10 minutes drive (5 km) to the south and has a small but fairly well-stocked grocery store for basic items, including spirits.
Tamarindo is the main town in the area and is 20 -25 minutes to the north. You will find a larger grocery store, banks, many beachside restaurants, bars, surf, and gift shops.
Gas stations are located at Villa Real approximately 20-25 minutes away and Santa Cruz, a sabanero (cowboy) town is 30 - 35 minutes southeast. There is not a lot to see here, but there are grocery stores and basic services.
Arenol volcano & hot springs, Santa Rosa National Park, Rincon Volcano & thermal pools, and Monteverde National Park.
